Tha Carter III LP
Hip Hip/Rap superstar Lil’ Wayne has finally confirmed a May 8, 2008 release date for his much anticipated 6th album, Tha Carter III LP which has been delayed numerous times within the last six month period. One delay came from an album leak over the web that revealed nearly the whole album. As a result of the leak, Lil Wayne released all the leaked tracks as a mixtape titled The Leak which was released during the 07′ holiday season and he returned to the studio to make music that was “bigger than life”. Prior to the album leak, Tha Carter III was dubbed the “#1 most anticipated album of 2007″ by XXL magazine. Due to all the setbacks, Tha Carter III is being hailed the “#1 most anticipated album of 2008″. In an interview with Billboard.com, Wayne states “I think this album is going to be one of my best albums”. This can sit very well on the minds of al the eager Lil’ Wayne fans.
Another reason for the album’s setbacks come as a result of Wayne’s numerous run-ins with the law, his most recent coming on January 23, 2008. Lil Wayne was arrested alongside two others. His tour bus was stopped by Border Patrol agents near Yuma, Arizona. Lil Wayne had a .44 caliber pistol. A K-9 Unit recovered 105 grams of marijuana (3.7 ounces), almost 29 grams of cocaine (1.02 ounces), 41 grams of Ecstasy (1.05 ounces) and $22,000 dollars in cash.
Lil’ Wayne also blames the album delay on his perfectionism. As stated in an interview for MTVNews, Wayne states, “I make it worse for Universal [Records]. I keep doing new songs every other day. I don’t stop working, so I don’t know when they gonna get that. Everything I do be better than the last, like ‘Oh, this gotta make the album!”
The album is credited to host an onslaught of producers and guest appearances. On the production end, fans can expect to hear beats from Kanye West, David Banner, Scott Storch, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Cool & Dre, Mannie Fresh, Timbaland, Diesel, and The Runners. The album features appearances from Jay-Z, Static, Ludacris, Tyga, The Game, Baby “Birdman” Williams, Justin Timberlake, Hurricane Chris, Dipset affiliate Juelz Santana, and many more. In a recent interview session with Blender.com, Wayne gives a listening session to Blender and here are all the confirmed tracks from the much anticipated LP: “Lollipop”, “Beat the Block”, “Eat You Alive”, “I’m Illi”, and “Let the Beat Build”.
Lil’ Wayne fans can find comfort in the fact that Lil’ Wayne has shot a video for his first single “Lollipop” and is set to release the making of this video on BET show Access Granted on March 11, 2008 at 7;30 P.M. The song features singer Static and was shot in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Is it all true? Is the end to all of the wait almost here? Well all the signs say, “Yessss!!!!”, but who knows what is going through the head of this mad genius? All I know is that all of Lil’ Wayne’s fans are at the edge of their seats waiting for his next move. But will it be worth the wait?
